What Does Chaparral & Newsweek Have In Common?
Chaparral High School Temecula is one of the three main high schools in Temecula.. Located in beautiful Temecula, California Chaparral High School stands with pride and integrity in the education system. In 1997 it was added to assist in the growing population of the city. It has since provided excellence in teaching the High School students of Temecula.
Upon opening its doors in 1997, the school only housed freshmen and a sophomore classes. The idea was to focus on the core group of students and work together to build a stronger education system. In 1998 the junior curriculum was added, and the first graduating class received their diplomas in 1999.
Designed with excellence in mind, the school is fascinating from another standpoint. Four key cost saving measures helped to secure the tax dollars that the school save on funding, and also provide an eco friendly design.
- Natural Lighting is used in numerous areas.
- Installed is a high efficiency center boiler/chiller plan.
- It was designed with low maintenance plants and building materials.
- The school is designed with a central computer system to effectively use energy.
Why Is There A Puma On This Page?
Interestingly enough are the school’s choice of colors. Chaparral High’s mascot is the Puma, which signifies strength and power. That idea is obviously carried over with the color scheme navy blue, hunter green and platinum. These colors certainly bring to mind the attributes for a school with a bright future.
What should also be focused on, as with any High School are the extra circular activities available to students. They not only provide a bonding experience, but also establish pride and team building exercises. Included are 18 sports that qualify for Varsity lettering in the Athletics Department. Included in those are Volleyball, Football, Baseball, Cross Country and Basketball.

Additionally, Chaparral High School Temecula also has four activities that qualify for the Activities Letter. These include the Associated Student Body, Cheerleading, Marching Band and ROTC.
But that isn’t all the school offers. Also available for students is a theater department, which has won the top honor from the Fullerton Theater Competition.
There is also a Science Olympiad. These students prepare for various tests and perform on a Regional and National level.
There are over a dozen clubs that offer membership on a variety of topics. Certainly, there is something for every student to feel welcomed at the school.
