There are currently approximately 8,250 students in Temecula attend the public education system. Their backgrounds range as much as their ages, but one thing is certain the education system in Temecula elementary schools is focused on creating excellent education backed with teaching life lessons.
In March of 2010, several of the schools participated in “Spread the Word to End the Word” program, which is an effort to end the derogatory use of the word "retard". Students were encouraged to sign a pledge that they would refrain from using that word and educate others that it was offensive. The results of the program worked well, and taught a lesson to the students.
