The Promenade Mall From The Beginning
 Construction started for the new Temecula Mall on Nov. 4, 1998.
Since the grand opening of the Mall in October 1999, it has expanded twice. It grew from about 750,000 square feet to almost 1.2 million square feet.
The two major renovations have changed the face of The Promenade Mall significantly since it opened.
The BIG Gamble For The Mall!
In March 2009, an expansion at the mall site was completed and a $100 million, 126,000-square-foot "lifestyle" center was opened. The lifestyle area was built on the former parking lot between Macy's and the Edwards Cinema, and the expansion included several upscale stores.
This area was created to draw people in to the Temecula Mall, instead of the neighboring malls in Carlsbad and Escondido. And the gamble worked!
A five-story parking garage was built to take the place of the former parking lot. This parking garage was created to handle the mass traffic the mall was going to anticipate by bring on this new expansion.
The HUGE Payoff For The Promenade Mall In Temecula!
 With several hundred new parking spots, these new hi rise-parking structures have paid off for the mall. Meters count the cars going in and subtract the cars departing the structure to make it easy on the public.
In addition to the recent expansion, the children's play area and the food court have been renovated and the overall appearance of the mall has been upgraded.
Another upgrade to the mall was the road circling the mall. The “Promenade Mall Loop” now has traffic lights to make driving easier.
The mall generates about $3.7 million in sales tax for Temecula almost every year. It employs about 2,700 people, and many more people work at stores and Temecula Restaurants that have sprung up around the center.
The Promenade Mall has over 150 specialty locations, including a theater equipped with stadium style seating and a state of the art IMAX Theater.
