 The Temecula Police Dept is here to protect and serve. Anywhere you live, you want to know you are safe. Safety is the number one reason why people move to or from an area. Because let’s face it, if you feel like you are going to be harmed in anyway, you are bound to leave.
But that’s why we have a great set of men and women dedicated to protecting us at the Temecula Police Department.
With a police force of more than 100 law enforcement officers protecting the community, it provides comfort to each of us. The officer to population ratio is one officer for every 973 residents. The national average is 1.3 officers per 1,000 residents, which makes us right about par with that. A very comforting thought indeed.

 Residents should be aware they have two office locations, in the event you need to contact them. One is in the Promenade Mall. The other location is in beautiful Old Town Temecula.

This group of dedicated individuals is led by the current Police Chief Andre M. O’Hara, who with over 20 years of experience in law enforcement in all areas provides quality and integrity to his role.
His vision of how his force should run is a refreshing new approach from traditional views in the past. He is certainly a forward thinking individual.
There Is More That Meets The Eye
In addition to traditional officers, the Temecula Police Dept has others forces at work to keep you protected. This team will continue to protect the community a safe place for all of its residents.
Additional teams include:
- The Youth Accountability Team (YAT)
- Special Enforcement Team (SET)
- Promenade Mall Team
- Problem Oriented Policing (POP)
- Traffic Team
Each team is specially trained in their realm of expertise to provide residents with high quality service, and respect.
 Your safety is their top priority and they take their jobs very seriously, we tip a respectful hat to those who serve and protect us.
It should also be noted that the Temecula Police Dept offers additional programs to assist our community as well.
Sometimes the best way to protect is to educate, and they offer the following programs:

- Stop Light Abuse Program or SLAP
- Robbery Presentations
- Business Security Services
- Off-Road Vehicle Enforcement
- Crime Free Multi-Housing
